About Deer Run Acres

A family farm dedicated to producing the healthiest foods available through regenerative farming practices.

Our Story

Welcome to Deer Run Acres, a family farm in Edinboro, PA. We raise nature's best available foods: 100% grass fed beef, pasture raised non-GMO fed pork, and pasture raised non-GMO fed eggs. Our mission is to produce the healthiest foods available for our community and to be like our Creator through stewardship of our regenerative farm.

The name “Deer Run Acres” honors Shenley's grandfather, Henry Zimmer, a generational dairy farmer who developed the Deer Run subdivision in McKean, PA. Henry's legacy of working the land runs deep in our family, and we are proud to carry that tradition forward in a new way — through regenerative agriculture that heals the soil and produces food the way nature intended.

Where It All Began

Where It All Began

It started as a dream to have a family milk cow. What began as a simple desire to provide fresh milk for our family quickly grew into a passion for raising animals the right way — on open pasture, with natural diets, and without shortcuts. As our herd grew, so did our commitment to regenerative farming practices that improve the land with every season.

Today, Deer Run Acres is home to grass-fed cattle, pasture-raised pigs, and free-roaming laying hens — all raised with care on our family farm in Edinboro, PA. Our kids are growing up alongside the animals, learning the value of hard work, stewardship, and connection to the land.

Our Foundation

Everything we do at Deer Run Acres flows from three core statements that shape who we are and how we work together.

🌿

Mission

To produce the healthiest foods available for our community and to be like our Creator through stewardship of our regenerative farm.

Vision

Awakening in regenerative farming: healing land, nourishing bodies, and renewing minds, until creation itself rejoices in the freedom of God’s children.

❤️

Purpose

To love one another as Christ has loved us, so that all may know we are His disciples through our shared life and work.

100% Grass Fed

100% Grass Fed Beef

Our cattle are raised on open pasture and fed only grass and hay (No antibiotics or hormones). We believe that animals that consume diets they were biologically intended to eat and roam freely outdoors are happier, healthier, and result in better tasting, healthy meat.

All our beef is 100% grass-fed and raised on pasture without antibiotics or hormones. Our cattle graze on nutrient-rich pastures, resulting in meat that is higher in omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins. All of our meat is butchered at local state inspected butcher shops. We are committed to regenerative farming practices that improve soil health and support local ecosystems.

Pasture Raised Pork

Our pigs roam freely on open pasture, rooting, grazing, and living the way pigs were meant to live. They are raised outdoors with constant access to fresh grass, sunshine, and room to express their natural behaviors — the way nature intended.

Supplemented with a non-GMO diet, our pigs are never given antibiotics or hormones. Pasture-raised pork has a richer, more complex flavor than conventionally raised pork, with higher levels of vitamins and healthy fats. Our pigs also play an important role on the farm — their natural rooting aerates the soil and cycles nutrients back into the land.

All of our pork is butchered at local state inspected butcher shops. You work directly with the butcher to customize your cut sheet — chops, bacon, sausage, roasts, and more.

Truly Pasture Raised

Pasture Raised Laying Hens

Our Hens have FULL access to the outdoors 365 days a year. They are rotated on pasture in their mobile “Egg Mobile” over 9 months out of the year. Our chickens eat grass, bugs, worms, and all sorts of other nutritious and “found in nature” food sources.

Truly pasture raised eggs are significantly higher in vitamin E and Omega 3 fatty acids! Stop by our roadside farm stand anytime to pick up a dozen, or subscribe for hassle-free delivery right to your door throughout Erie County.

Our Core Values

These eight values shape every decision, interaction, and task on the farm. They are not rules from the outside — they are the heartbeat of who we are.

Community-Focused Nourishment

We prioritize producing and delivering the absolute healthiest, most nutrient-dense foods — regeneratively raised with integrity — to serve, bless, and benefit our local community as an expression of practical love and care.

Creator-Imitating Stewardship

We actively seek to reflect our Creator — exercising benevolent, restorative dominion over land, animals, and resources — through regenerative farming that heals rather than harms, honoring God’s original design.

Spirit-Led Sonship

As fully adopted sons and daughters of God (Romans 8:14–17), we are led by the Spirit in our work and relationships — crying ‘Abba, Father’ in intimacy, living as heirs with Christ, and partnering with Him in every aspect of farm life.

Wholeness as the Ultimate Outcome

We pursue holistic flourishing — mind, body, and spirit — for people and creation alike, nourishing bodies while renewing minds and awakening spirits through our shared efforts and interactions.

Sacrificial, Christ-Like Love as Our Defining Mark

Our deepest purpose is to love one another just as Christ loved us — sacrificially, unconditionally, and self-givingly — so that all may recognize us as His disciples (John 13:34–35).

Dual Integrated Purpose

There is no separation between the practical (raising healthy food) and the spiritual (glorifying God, loving as disciples). Every regenerative act, interaction, and harvest flows from and points back to our union with Christ.

Awakening Through Regenerative Practices

Our vision is an ongoing awakening: healing degraded land, nourishing bodies with life-giving food, and renewing minds toward truth — participating now in the restoration process until creation itself is set free (Romans 8:19–21).

Creation’s Redemption as Our Shared Hope

We farm in eager anticipation of the day when all creation rejoices in full liberty alongside the revealed children of God — with regenerative stewardship as our faithful contribution to that future renewal.
